Auctioneers are used car salesman and they use different tactics to gin up prices and enthusiasm such as shill bidders. If someone sees a truck supposedly go for $100,000 they may be more willing to pay $75,000, or whatever, for the next truck.

I'll bet that many of the trucks that get sold for high dollar at auction get sold for a much lower price the next time they are sold.
