Hello All,
Bunn and Brownell’s “Dodge Pickups. History and Restoration Guide 1918-1971 shows the 1957-58 Chrysler 8.75” FF axle as having a weight rating of 6500 Lbs. Is that correct? Looking at the 1961-1971 Sweptline parts book, it list shows the Spicer model 60 FF axle as having only a 5500 lb. weight rating. I always thought the 60 would have a greater weight rating. Was surprised to see the 60 only has 2 pinion gears as opposed to the 4 pinion gears on the Chrysler Corporate. With the exception of the weaker ring and pinion on the CC axle(granted, that is a big exception), it appears to me that the CC axle was as well if not better built than the 60. Any thought on this.
