I am currently changing a truck over from 6 volts to 12 volts. I started with all the light bulbs and then turned the headlights on with the 6 volt battery still in it. They look like yours, about 3 candle power each. You should check to see that you don't have 12 volt headlights in your truck.

I pulled out Wagner H6006 6 volt bulbs and installed Wagner H6024 12 volt bulbs.
