Carb choices for the dodge engine: Chevy carb?

In my research for carb jetting I read this past article in the archives where a poster used a carb from a Chevy 250 , 6 cyl engine on his dodge flathead.

Anyone else have experience with this?
What about any of the solex applications?

Just throwing out there different thinkingbon more "close to modern" carb replacement where as perhaps optional jetting might be more available.
