I assume the the loss of strength you mention is when the frame is slightly cut to provide clearence for the Reverse Rotation Saginaw Box. I have done the conversion, but its not on the road so I can not respond to the braking difference.
I took a good look at cutting the small area for box clearence. With no question, any time you cut on a frame rails or drill them, you take away some strength. However, I do not feel this small clearence cut seriously weekens the double frame. There is pleanty of top flange left. Cut it using Rays Templete as a guide, make your cuts accurate so you dont cut more than needed. I believe you will be real happy with the conversion.
