I want to have made, some small reproduction items from stainless. In order to know if it will be cost affective, I need a couple answers from someone with actual experience in machining stainless.
1. Is it hard to machine stainless?
2. Would it be hard to drill and tap stainless?
The reason I ask is because after asking if anyone has the wiperarm nuts that attaches the arm to the wiper shaft and the outer benzel on our WDX-WM300 PWs, I get no response. I've looked at them on other trucks and they seem to be chromeplated brass?
I suppose one could just easily machine them from brass and then have them chrome plated but that seems like a extra step and worry when what I'd really like is, to have them reproduced from stainless if I have to have some made. Are there any for sale out there or any NOS ones to be had?
