Rust prevention

As I sit here and watch my 47 sitting in the mud, doing nothing as we still have the highest gas prices in the country, I am wondering what do do to prevent rust from eating the body. I can't afford to paint it yet, and I hesitate to slap primer on it since I don't know what kind of paint I'm gonna use someday. What can I do to preserve the body? Is there some kind of 'sealant' or etc I can use? Its in such good shape I hate to let it get ruined. Thanks,
