Your story about the rough ride is why my truck frame is boxed and I have a 4 link front and custom Alcan springs in the rear to soften up the ride. A set of scales and a call to Alcan and you'll be riding a lot more comforable. You may be right about the shocks too. If the oil has turned to grease or the ports are all clogged, they shocks aren't moving. May need to look into rebuilding and tuning those some. They're pretty harsh even when in nice condition.
