My thoughts are distribution tube rotted away or clogged, providing the radiator/block is clear.

Timing will affect a heat issue but not like your seeing.

I doubt it's thermostat, but needs to be checked first.
I have also seen exhaust blockage case heating problems, but doubt that's the cause in your case.
