We’re just now home from hauling a 11,000+ lb 1955 F500 for 11,000 miles and a ~9,000 lb PW and about 800 Lbs of extra parts for 13,000 miles. We used our ‘17 2500 with the 6.9 and 68RFE 6-speed auto. I’m really glad that I didn’t have to shift up/down time after time to get through the Appalachians and big city Spring Break traffic! I’m not quite as young as I used to be.
The truck pulled flawlessly. It’s tow rating, in this configuration, is 17,080 Lbs. With the trailer weight, we pulled as much as 13,500 or so. My wife drove quite a bit and was surprised because it pretty much drove like the trailer wasn’t even there.
