Good to do a cylinder leak down test. I had a adapter once to screw into the spark plug hole and apply air pressure to while that piston was at top with the valves closed. If air came out the tail pipe it was a bad exhaust valve, if air came up through the carburetor it was a intake valve, if air came out the oil cap while it was removed it was bad rings
