Sorry for the bad news. It does sometimes seem endless. I bought a 49 once and freed up the unstuck engine. I drove it a little and my son wanted to drive it in the classic car parade. On the way there the engine threw a rod. :(
It's a hit and miss deal with these trucks. You really don't know how they've been maintained and sometimes what people tell you they have done still can't be trusted.
