I had a Carter that seemed to last. Make sure to run a nice heavy wire to the pump, I suspect some failures are due to low voltage caused by undersized wire. Also install an oil pressure switch with a relay so that the pump shuts off with the engine. I didn't do this and it worked well but a return regulator will keep the pump cooler because it always is moving plenty of fuel through the pump. A regular regulator causes the pump to recirculate and build heat. Higher pressure pumps require this but for 4 psi it isn't necessary. May be a good idea though.
