The damn thing is really due for a tune up but its still running fine on the points that were put in it in the 1970s. Now and again I need to give them a sanding. I do have a shiny new set in my tool box though. Any day now, I'm changing them out!
To be fair, Both my old Jetboats I had back in the 1990s..2ks I put Pertonics in them and loved 'em. Also my M37 was eating points, so I put a Pertronics in it. That put an end to that nonsense. Never had one go out on me.
Back in my Drag boat days (Different life) we had them fancy "professional" MSD ignition systems that cost zillions for the drag boat. Doing experiments from one to another in a "lake boat" (I'd set it up with a switch) There was no measurable difference in performance between a simple Pertronics and the MSD system. Then I opened up the MSD and found it looked like it was built by Monkeys. It was just a mess inside! Just a bunch of really good Sheep herders them people.
Wow! Listen to us raining on your parade. Sorry bout that. I just never got too much into aftermarket stuff. Unless you can prove that its really helping solve some problem.
Just don't ask about electric fuel pumps. :)
