I do not have the whole story on the truck but I do know it was a firetruck for the Bernard, Iowa VFD. At some point the fire department sold it and it found its way 81 miles to where it sits today. Judging by the driver's door, it appears it was probably a nice truck when it left the fire department.
I am told that the property it sits on now was owned by a hermit who liked to hoard stuff. When I saw it, it had been recently pulled out of the timber where the fire body had been removed and was still sitting (probably was not a hard job to remove it). Apparently the truck had sat for several decades back in the timber where it never saw sunlight and fallen leaves and racoon poop kept the truck nicely hydrated. When they lifted off what remained of the fire body, big patches of the rear of the cab fell out as well. The fire extinguisher survived well though.
One more picture to come.
