Speedo issues..

Installed a new speedo cable today. (Good lord, took hours!) Anyway when we started our trip the speedo actually seemed to work pretty good. I was shocked. Then things started to degrade. You could hear what sounded like a bearing cavitate(? That has to be the wrong word.) and the needle would jump. Then it would settle down and be a speedo again.

After a bit it was all jump, no speedo. So I pulled over and pulled the cable.

Anyone opened one of these up? I'm betting some oil in the right place? Possibly a new bearing? Maybe I could patch it back together?

Or does anyone have an extra working speedo for a 3/4 ton?
