Generally speaking I believe so called re-powering especially when it comes to major changes in sheet metal and frame parts, drastically impacts its long-term value. Too often unmolested trucks are negatively impacted by people who really don't know what they are doing and lose interest and end up with a non-functioning vehicle or one that still does not satisfy their desire for modern performance from an antique. In my opinion, if you want a daily driver that will keep up with the demands of freeways and fast traffic, people need to understand that theme machines are not going to work under those conditions. I can see safety upgrades such as seat belts but putting a powerful V8 matched with a non-syncro 4 speed transmission and original axles and 3rd member is a challenge. The complete system would require modification including new high performance brakes and steering.
