Tie rod ends?

To finally complete the front end rebuild on my Carryall, I had a set of NOS tie rod ends professionally installed. I used the professional so that they could set the toe in.

I get the truck back and now the steering seems really stiff. Before, with the old rod ends, I could grab the lower part of the tie rod, the bit below the front drive shaft, and push it back and forth some. Almost floppy. Now I can't budge it. Is this normal? Is there a break in period for new tie rod ends? This seems impossible to mess up. But I'm really wondering what's going on.

Thoughts? Anyone?
