First few years of building in North Idaho were difficult getting used to. I tried all kinds of gloves, and eventually found a lightweight pair of wool gloves were the easiest to use to pick nails out of my pouch. The problem with that was the tips wore out quickly from grabbing the nails. After 8 or 10 years I finally got so I could work without any gloves. But obviously this doesn't help someone with an occasional project. When I read about the native American Indians and the early mountain men, they just had to be tough and able to get used to the weather. They didn't have an LL Bean or Eddie Bauer store to get the latest winter wear. :)
