It took me a while, but I fixed the forum script so you can post either http, or https pictures.

old Line 1219
if ($FORM{'img'} =~ /^(ht|f)tp:\/\/.*\..*/) {

changed to
if ($FORM{'img'} =~ /^(ht|f)tps?:\/\/.*\..*/) {

Long story short, it works. Now on to changing the whole site to https so we can be friends with Google again.
