Anyone try Zinc plating?

I'd like to zinc plate the guts in my lights. I've been looking online and everyone seems to do it a little differently. I'm having a tough time figuring out what is necessary and what's just snake oil. And then there's never any hard and fast formulas. And where are people getting all these chemicals? Boric acid this and magnesium chloride that?

I'd love to hear how you did it and how it worked out.
