I cant get the valve lash set. The engine has a hydraulic cam , all the 318 polys I've been involved with were solid lifters so no problem setting the rockers. The hydraulic lifers have to adjusters but I switched them to adjustables on Gary's advice. I had it running with the adjusters backed way off but then thy clattered. Gary said crank them down to just touching the push rods then a 1/2 turn more. This resulted in no power and 30-40 lbs of compression. Now I'm going back to loosening the rocker arms and then try to run them in until the clatter stops. I've been in contact with Gary but since the engine was built 5 years ago but never run he has to look in his records to find what he supplied. How did you set your rockers? Once these lifters pump up I loose compression since they hold the valves open. Really frustrated with this boat anchor.
