I know I have the wrong cover. But I'm planning on fitting a little extender pointer to the original pointer that goes down close to the pulley.

I'm thinking I can loosely tie a string to the crank and pull it tight to the end of the existing pointer, giving me a good location for my extender pointer to point at on the pulley.

While thinking about this, I thought that if I was designing this engine, I'd line up the pulley & pointer to the #1 crankshaft journal making everything easy.

So I thought I'd ask.
