Half Ton Carryall or WC question

A friend asked me if I had a door check arm for his 1/2 ton carryall and sent me a picture of the one he had. I found one that matched his picture but neither one had a rubber bumper. I know the bumpers harden up and crack off with time, but my question is, did the half tons even have the rubber bumper?
