Anyone rebuilt a 12V Generator?

My generator is failing. Sounds like bearings and whatnot going at it inside. I pulled it out of the truck. WOW its a beast! That thing is heavy! Have it on the bench and thinking about tearing it down to rebuild.

I figured before I opened it up, I'd see if there was any good tips from the collective knowledge out here? I found the section in the Tech manual about it. Sounds straight forward, but you never know.

P.S. After pulling the generator I found evidence of water leaking from the front of the engine. Ugh!
