The NP 200 transfer case was designed for the WWII 6x6 truck. One rear axle was driven off the centerline drive where the parking brake band is, the other axle from the offset output. Dodge retained this case for the PW so they could offer rear PTO accessories for farmers. The only change was to make it a 2:1 reduction instead of 1.5:1.
