By eyeball it appears (but I have not measured to verify) that a centered pumpkin on the rear axle would hit the rear PTO tailshaft on full jounce (rear springs fully deflected). Later civilian sheet metal PW's (not WDX-WM300 types) without a rear tailshaft as optional extra equipment had centered rear axles.
