For road use, particularly wet roads, I like radials. The best offroad radial is the 11.00R16 Michelin XL (38.7"), or if you want a 36" tire, the 9.00R16 XL. At www.dollartire.com you can see reasonable prices for them used, there's also people in the SE US selling good used Michelins. Other good tires that fit on the combat rim are 13/36R16 radial Swampers. 305/85R16 Buckshots are OK but not very strong sidewalls, cheap though.
