I know that a lot of our WCs are going to start having their 75th Birthdays here soon, and I feel that 3/4 of Century is a noteworthy mark!
Well, my build card says that my truck is a Monday, October 19th, 1942... So Happy Birthday old friend.
And as a present, last night, with only 6 hours until it turned 75, I fired up the Common Rail 4 Cylinder Cummins for the first time! The engine itself hadn't been run since 2005 so it took a good bit of hand cranking then no fuel cranking, and then diagnosing a bad ECM connector with some bent Pins to finally get it to fire off. Had a misfire at first but after the rail bled down and built some pressure it smoothed out and actually idles. I didn't run it long because of not having any water to it and the Fuel Pressure Relief valve has a leak and needs to be replaced still.
Here is a link to a video of the first start. Had 65 psi of oil pressure the whole time. Cell phone video so it sounds extra rattly.
