The rod bushing and pin must be clean and dry when testing. If the clearance is correct, the pin will not drop through the bushing under its own weight when held vertical. Proper fit requires slight thumb pressure to move it through. In both yours and Marks, the clearance appears too great. Normal clearance is probably around 0.001 +/-.
