I used POR-15 on many parts of my '49. In some places, it has held up well, but of course, it's only seen use for a couple o years, followed by several years of outdoor storage, and now indoor storage. In other places, the POR-15 peeled off in large sheets. It's a very rubbery product that sticks together and peels off together when it isn't bonded well to the surface. I think this has mostly happened on smooth, unrusted metal surfaces. I believe I followed the directions to a "T" including the use of their Metal Ready prep that gets applied to smooth metal, so I'm not sure why it peeled in some places.
Also the first coat I applied (used a brush) went on very smoothly, but the second coat seem created clumps and left a bumpy, rough finish. Unfortunately, that has held up pretty well, too.
