clean terminals a must. Then slow is better than a fast charge. 2 to 15 amps 8 to 10 hours. I was taught that a Generator or a alternator is there NOT to charge the battery but to keep the battery level maintained while the vehicle is in use. It is very hard on the unit to charge a dead battery. it will but it will not bring it back to 100 percent charged. I have a tester that tells me the level of charge in a battery. Most do not come in at 100 percent. Even ones on the road every day. Remember Just like our Dodge Trucks SLOW AND STEADY WILL GIT THE JOB DONE 100 PERCENT. ITS JOB RATED. I charge batteries every day. I have many customers that only run there cars 3 to 5000 miles a year. They get a charge overnight when they come in for service. As our trucks sit its time for the battery tenders. I thinks i have 5 or 6 in my shop hooked up to battery's at all times. I just bought a new 6 volt one for my CJ. The old one was about 20 years old. Enjoy. keep the Old girls on the road. PS even the new battery,s I sell get a charge before they go out the door. If it goes out at 80% then it will never go any higher on charge.
