Typically "Marine Batteries" are deep cycle batteries and are designed for driving small loads for a long time. "Car batteries" are designed for short, high amp loads with a fast recharge. Car batteries are designed for starting cars. Marine batteries are NOT good for starting cars and typically die fast in that setting. Check to see if your "Marine batteries" are the deep cycle type. If so, I'd take them back.
