I have had all my Dodge/Cummins old iron, Diesel CJ7 Jeep and Corvettes insured with Hagerty since 2000....thats 17 years. Prior to that I used Hagerty to insure my Classic Chris Crafts for roughly 15 years. Many dont know that Hagerty actually started in the Antique/Classis Boat Insurance prior to vehicles. I have Hagerty for 32 years of coverage.
In the begining, not knowing better, I used my local agent to secure Hagerty Insurance for my boats. When I went into Power Wagons, it seemed a natural to also use my local agent to secure Hagerty Insurance on the Dodge Old Iron.
My Local agent did not have a clue what they were doing. I was overcharged on my Carryall for 2 years. I called Hagerty Inc.
they said the rate calc used by the agent was dead wrong. Hagerty Inc also told me that I did not need to go thru a local agent, that I could call Hagerty and get it done right the first time.
I sold one of my Corvettes, my mistake, I asked the local agent to cancel that Corvette with Hagerty, which the local agent said they would do. The next day, I get a call from Hagerty Inc, asking if I would tell them why I had canceled all my policies
The Local Agent instead of canceling the one corvette, canceled all my Hagerty Incruance.
Hagerty was very gracious, as they always are and immediatelly, while I was on the phone, got all my insurance on all my vehicles re-instated. That was years ago. I no longer involve my local agent in any way. I call Hagerty direct, get amazing customer service, and my need/request is taken care of on the phone.
The moral is DONT USE A LOCAL AGENT. Call Hagerty and work with them direct. Iam a very happy Hagerty customer and wont leave them as long as I need Antique/Classic Insurance Coverage
