I had two buggered-up wheel studs on the '53 B3-PW. I pressed them out and gut two new ones from VPW.
They are sloppy loose. The shoulders seem to be 7/8" on the new ones and .012-.013" larger diameter on the old ones. In addition, the heads and shoulders show signs of having been pressed to the point of compliance. It's pretty evident that these were heartily swaged into the hub flange.
So, what's a mere mortal to do? Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I could get the new studs swaged? I have a press, but, I don't want to wreak havoc. How do the professionals do this?
