3 speed Loadflite autos were available in 1956 I believe and even in 4wd starting in 57. Was kind of a sales thing. There was an earlier Fluid Drive. Early ones were cast iron with a push button box to the left of the steering column and later a dash mounted lever to the right in Sweptlines. Loadflites had no PARK feature. They changed to the aluminum case Torqueflite at some point maybe 61 or 62, but not sure. The mounting to the Poly changed a bit then too. Sweptline era trucks could be had with autos. Probably not on W300s.
