Leaking front seal is fixed on the VP44. Bluechip sent me a new seal at right around $20 with shipping...no one could help locally. After talking to Mr. Mark Wilson at dieseltuff, I am mostly convinced that the RV275 injectors I have are not worn out, but that I likely have some worn out valve guides and seals which will make for a good winter fix and the new head gasket can't hurt at 300k. Now I just need to figure out if there is even still a machine shop around that can confidently do the work on my 24v head. It's been over 10 years since I had machine work done locally.
Funny thing. The FASS 150 (or PLatinum, Titanium, whatever they call it now) that I have had on all winter used to have irratic pressure delivery. While everything was apart, I took my old fuel filter housing and tapped it for the 1/2" fuel lines. Purged the hell out of everything to flush out any aluminum debris, and slapped it back together. Now the FASS only fluctuates about 1/2 lb sitting at idle and it is slow about it...not "vibrating" the needle on the pressure gauge (which may be what pushed the seal out). 15.5psi at idle and barely drops to 14 at WOT with the tuner cranked to the max. the truck is now reaching 25psi of boost and I hear what I presume is the wastegate actuating. I was only getting to about 21/22 psi of boost before. It does kick a nasty black cloud out when accelerating from a stop, but not as bad as what "the kids" like to see all the time. I turned the tuner back and it barely puffs which I am fine with. The EGT's are down 2-300 degrees under WOT and the programmer isn't detuning as quickly now as well. Guess I stumbled across another fix and didn't even know it but I have a feeling it has something to do with the smooth fuel delivery.
