Reading no. 5 on your post, the center spring ring doesn't have any dots. The only instructions I had with it said to put the joint in the wavy ring above the wrist pin. There were no instructions about the spacer ring that goes between the two scraper rings. Did you mean it would fail because of overlapping the spacer ring? In that case, it was not overlapped.
