I felt my ears getting HOT!
OK, here is the story. My father ordered a 1948 B-PW in late 1947 or early 1948. The truck was equipped as follows:
Deluxe cab with interior mirror, adjustable Air-Ride seat, dual outside mirrors.
PTO with Braden winch on front and pintle hitch on rear.
Snatch block.
7.50 x 16" non-directional tires.
4.89 third members.
Red with black running boards.
He did not order a cab heater (wish he had).
The agreed price upon placing the order was $1,800 and change. At the time that he placed the order, the US Government had a "ceiling price" on vehicles. When the truck arrived at our local dealer, Dad was informed that the ceiling price had been lifted and the price would now be $2,100 and change.
Well then! Dad informed the dealership owner that this was a deal breaker. After some discussion, the dealership owner told Dad that he would allow him an additional $300 on the 1/2 ton pickup that he was trading in dropping the price back down to $1,800.
Dad drove the Power-Wagon home, I was about 8 months old at this time. By the time that I was about 15 years old, I had learned to drive the Power-Wagon here on our farm and going all over, including public roads.
Dad and I had many adventures in his truck.
In 1974, Dad gave the Power-Wagon to me and it is one of my treasured possessions.
