i used my surfboard clear epoxy resin on some burgular bars as a test maybe three or four years ago --still holding up
sets hard in about an hour but stays tacky for 6 hours or so
just in case you wanna do the wet tshirt look on your sandblasted or other frame
you could always put some pigment in it for color
resin is about $20 a gal. and the catalyst is about $30 a gal. 2 to 1 mix
after 6 hours it would need to be sanded for a nuther coat
