I once was pushed through an intersection by a trailer I was towing that had no brakes. It weighed 8000 lbs. and I was pulling it with a 3500 GMC w/ flatbed and duals, powered by their infamous 6.2 diesel. The light turned yellow, I was doing 45 mph, reached for the brakes and the truck did not slow down, pushed harder and harder until I had all four wheels locked up. It finally stopped just before the front bumper reached the far curb line, and the cross road was a four lane divided highway.
What sort of Snow-Cat do you have? How much does it weigh? I have a DMC 1450 that weighs in at ~3600 lbs and would consider a 7000 lbs trailer as bare minimum. By the time you add the weight of the trailer and the 'cat, that does not leave much of a safety margin. Also, 'cats are not inexpensive, so why risk a valuable machine, not to mention your health, and that of other drivers, to save a little bit on a trailer?
