Hi Chad,
You're the first person I've heard to mention a problem with the 61-71 Sweptline glass. Is this from personal experience, or a hunch? My '64 W has been to the tip of Baja, and all the way to Colorado, through Canyon Lands, run sand dunes, rock crawled, and gone where there were no roads at all. (this was pre-'save the world from those greedy bastard off-roaders' days) During a lot of those runs it had a cab-over camper on it, mucho weight and a lot of EXTRA cab flex, and I have never had a problem with the glass. It has 54,000 original miles on it, only 12,000 of which are on the highway, all the rest were off road miles.
