1979 need help

i have a 79 dodge ramcharger with a 318 aluminum intake and an eldebroke 850 performer series carb. it suck i know. but sometimes it runs like a raped ape and sometimes it putters along. i think it might be the manifold gasket or something on the distutor. im not sure but i need help. thanks gotta keep the mopar alive
