Who cares about the motor , they were junk to start with . In Viet Nam they were used in the rear areas but out in the boonies (no mechanics available)we had M37's and some as new as 69 models . That is also where I saw my first M601. A good buddy put in a 318 and 435 and a detroit locker and it is a billy goat . Also put steering gear out of a Wagoneer and it steers as good as your wife's new car .
