The one-wire motor speed can be varied by switching a resistance in series with it. It's not unusual to use two resistors, for three speeds.
I recently purchased a Model 65 heater complete with control panel, bracket, cable and switch. The switch placed in series either 0.25 or 0.75 Ohms (by using a 0.25 and a 0.5 Ohm resistor), or directly connected the motor to battery. The resistors will drop some heat during use and must be capable of dissipating it safely.
A simple coil of resistance wire was used to make the resistors and they had loosely been covered with a ceramic tube to protect them (and me!).
I'll try to send you an email.
