The main difference I would think would be in the convenience of storage, the "L" versus the "C". LPG can be stored as a liquid at a modest pressure. CNG can be compressed but not liquefied at any reasonable pressure unless it's kept extremely cold. It's easier to carry more fuel as a liquid than as a compressed gas. But apparently the cheapness of the CNG makes it worthwhile because I know local delivery fleets often burn CNG. Maybe another factor is that for now at least there's no fuel tax on it.
