When I seen the advertisement for the 1968 powerwagon I sent an email to the address that was attached to the posting. That was on Saturday(2/4). I Got a call back from a guy named Chris that evening and asked if I could come out look and leave a deposit and pick it up the following weekend. He then informed me they had to wait for the fire comissioners meeting at the beginning of March to make a decision on the sale. Kind of didn't sound right cause the add said asking $9999 or best offer. no mention of a typical send in your sealed bid auction that most fire houses do. I went out Sunday 2/5 in the am to look at the truck, met Chris at the firehouse. He seemed like a nice guy and did say that I was the first guy to look at it. I did not suspect any B/S of any kind. The truck was clean but in various stages of apart. I told him that I would give them their asking price and was even willing to leave a deposit. He told me that they did not have the authority to take a deposit but wrote down my contact info and said he would keep me informed via email as to what is going on.I thought since I was there first and offered their full asking price that I should get it. I have since emailed and called him with no response. I'm pissed cause I drove out there and feel like maybee they knew all along that someone on the "inside" was getting the truck?? I almost want to contact someone in govt and complain!
