Is it just that 7/16 versions aren't being made?
It occurs to me that the "real" clamps are forged in some manner, whereas the CNC'd ones would not be. They say the clamp achieves 90% of the strength of the rope (so does a Flemish eye with one crosby clamp on it, if memory serves), but it's not clear what fails -- whether the rope slips or the clamp bends. If there are people still selling the clamps in 3/8 and 1/2, I have to wonder if the manufacturer isn't (or couldn't) make "real" 7/16 versions as well.
