This isn't a standard 50 cal ammo box. It's 12.9" x 7.3" x 8.9", which I think is big enough for a Group 34 battery (800 CCA).

As for the battery, I'm either going to install an Optima sealed battery and run the vent tube through the bottom, or use a regular battery with small vents on the back of the box so they aren't visible.
