As for large size mutiflex single conductor cables ( way bigger than welding cable ) if you happen to see the letters "DLC" this stands for Diesel Locomotive Cable.
Keep in mind that if you are terminating any of these multiflex ( welding cable type ) conductors using mechanical terminations, you are required to use a lug that is approved for such use. It will include a metal shoe between the set screw and the conductor, for obvious reasons. But of course a better choice is to use the compression type lug as Mark has in his previous post. But unfortunately most don't have easy access to the tool and the appropriate die.
